In the hi-tech information society that is Glass, massive amounts of data is constantly shuffled around The Grid. All of this data moves through massive, fully automated, Router hubs called "Grid Nodes". Dangerous, and not designed for human access, navigating the alien interior and tapping a Grid Node has become the ultimate demonstration of a Runner's ability. The risks are high and only a few have succeeded.
Additionally, the locations of the Safehouses through the city that were left behind by now-dead Cabals should be accessible if you can find someone with the skills to use the Tap and find that data.
Huge antenna towers with cutting edge technology are being installed throughout the city of Glass. The heavy KrugerSec presence at them has led to them being referred as "Security Hubs" and offer an annoyance to the Runners who must now must circumvent them to not alert the guards.
If Faith manages to defeat all the KrugerSec guarding an antenna she can overload and destroy it, forcing KrugerSec to abandon the location. Of course, KrugerSec won't take such an overt act of destruction and will alert the city in an attempt for find the culprit and take her down.
For a thrilling treasure hunt in the city, place a Beat L.E. - or Beat Location Emitter - for friends and other Runners to find. Place it in plain sight or on a hard-to-reach place where only the best can find it. You can also go looking for the Location Emitters yourself.
Strewn across the city you'll find yellow, orb-like items called gridLeaks. Make sure to collect as many of these as you can when you see them – each one gives you extra XP points.
From 4-inch screens to enormous billboards, Corporate propaganda and harsh reminders of KrugerSec's presence are seen all over Glass. However, a skilled Runner can reach the billboards and disrupt them to change what's being shown. Preferably to his or her own Runner Tag. Make sure to leave your mark with these Billboard Hacks to open the eyes of the population - and gain some XP.
Runner Kits are bags of in-game content that you can unlock as you advance in Mirror's Edge Catalyst. The kits contain Echo Customizations and new layers for your Runner Tag, giving you even more personalization options for your Mirror's Edge Catalyst profile.
Runner Kits are awarded based on your progress in the game and various achievements and trials. Those who have pre-ordered Mirror's Edge Catalyst will also get access to the Speed Runner Kit and/or the Combat Runner Kit.
Visible using Faith's Beatlink lens, Echoes are representations of other Runners and their traversal through the city. If you're taking on a Time Trial, you can see Echoes of other players running and your own Echo will be visible for others.
Echoes began life as a warning system to Runners highlighting difficult jumps, tight corners, or in the worst cases, death. Over time Echoes became a way for Runners to brag about exceptional runs. Eventually Echoes were used as a method of competition between runners.
The rulers of Glass have eyes everywhere. Security cameras and KrugerSec personnel are always on the lookout for those breaking the peace and if the threat is considered high enough, a KrugerSec Alert state is triggered. During an alert, K-Sec troops, VtoLs, gunships, and even hunter drones will be deployed to take down the perpetrator by any means necessary.
To clear the KrugerSec Alert state, Faith must find a Safe House or stay out of sight of her enemies for a set time. When trying to survive a KrugerSec Alert, use Light Traversal Attacks to flow through enemies and avoid encounters.
